These terms govern your use of Likums, a service that answers questions about Latvian law and links to the law in force on likumi.lv — on the web and through AI-assistant connectors. By using Likums you agree to these terms.
01Legal information, not legal advice
Likums provides legal INFORMATION with links to primary sources. It does not provide legal advice, and using it does not create a lawyer-client relationship. Likums is not a substitute for a qualified lawyer.
Answers are generated by an AI system from consolidated statutes. Although every answer is grounded in and linked to the law in force, and the system is built to refuse rather than guess, answers may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Always verify against the linked official text on likumi.lv and consult a licensed legal professional before acting on anything you read here.
For consequential decisions — court deadlines, contracts, disputes, penalties — do not rely on Likums alone.
02The source of the law
The statutory text Likums cites comes from likumi.lv, the official publisher of consolidated Latvian legislation. Where Likums and likumi.lv differ, likumi.lv governs. Likums is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by likumi.lv or any Latvian state body.
03Acceptable use
- Use Likums lawfully and for its intended purpose — asking about Latvian law.
- Do not attempt to overload, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Do not submit other people's personal data or confidential material in your questions.
- Free-plan use is subject to a daily limit; automated or bulk access requires the server-to-server key lane and a separate agreement.
04Accounts and plans
Some features require an account. A free plan is available with a daily question limit; a paid Pro plan, when enabled, removes the limit and unlocks full citations. Plans and pricing are described at the point of purchase and may change.
05Availability and changes
Likums is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
06Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Likums and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the service or its answers. Because Likums provides information and not advice, you remain responsible for how you use it.
07Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia. This does not remove any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence in the EU.
