How we build this content

Updated 4 July 2026

Likuma Palīgs turns Latvian law into language anyone can understand — without losing precision. This page explains where the content comes from, how we verify it, and where the limits are.

In short: everything is based on the consolidated versions published on likumi.lv, every answer is tied to specific articles, and if a rule cannot be found in the text in force, we do not state it.

01Sources and currency

Our only primary source is the official legislation site likumi.lv and its consolidated versions. For each law we keep the «Version as of» date — the exact version our content reflects.

The corpus is refreshed automatically. When a law is amended, the version date shown on the page, the page's last-checked date, the structured data and the sitemap all move.

02Verified citations

Every answer and explanation is tied to specific articles. Citations point to the exact place on likumi.lv — down to the individual article. Primary-source citation is a feature, not a flaw: it lets you check for yourself.

Nothing is published that cannot be traced back to the text of the law.

03Refusal policy

If the system cannot ground an answer in a rule of law in force, it refuses rather than guesses. The same principle governs automatically generated page content — better to stay silent than to mislead.

04AI assistance and human review

Plain-language explanations are produced with AI assistance and reviewed before publication. The author is the organization «Likuma Palīgs» — we do not use invented personas or fake author profiles.

This is an independent service. It is not affiliated with likumi.lv or any state institution.

05What this is not

Likuma Palīgs provides legal information with verified sources — not legal advice. For a specific, important decision, consult a qualified lawyer who knows your situation.

Corpus

We currently cover 37 laws in force. Each with its consolidated-version date:
